In Part One, we covered how the Nazi Party took a handful of angry beer hall losers and, through relentless propaganda, rebranding, and exploiting fear, transformed themselves into a legitimate political force. But winning elections was just Phase One. The real magic trick — the one dictators always pull — comes after they win.
This is the phase we’re in right now, America. Trump isn’t just playing the Nazi rebrand game — he’s playing the consolidation game, too. And if we don’t wake up and block the next steps, we’re heading straight into a 21st-century version of 1934 Germany, just with shittier reality TV stars running the show.
Germany, 1933-1934 — Nazi Consolidation of Power (So No One Can Take It Back)
Once Hitler legally took power as Chancellor in January 1933, the Nazis didn’t waste a second. They knew that the window to fully seize control before opposition forces could regroup was small. So they rolled out a playbook every aspiring dictator since has studied — including Trump.
Step 1: Manufacture a Crisis (Hello, Reichstag Fire)
On February 27, 1933, the Reichstag (Germany’s parliament building) mysteriously caught fire. The Nazis blamed communists, whipping up fear and convincing the public that Germany was under attack from within.
Trump’s Parallel: January 6 was his Reichstag Fire — except this time, the “communists” were Democrats, Antifa, and anyone who voted against him. Trump has never stopped portraying the 2020 election (and every election he loses) as “stolen,” and his cult believes they’re under siege from within.
Step 2: Emergency Powers & Suspension of Civil Liberties
After the Reichstag Fire, Hitler convinced President Hindenburg to sign the Reichstag Fire Decree, which suspended freedom of speech, freedom of the press, and the right to assemble. It allowed indefinite detention without trial. Germany’s fragile democracy effectively ended with a signature.
Trump’s Parallel: Trump Authoritarian Strategy – Enter Project 2025, the blueprint for replacing tens of thousands of career civil servants with handpicked loyalists. Add in state-level Republican gerrymandering, voter suppression laws, and relentless lawsuits challenging election results, and you have the same goal: shutting down dissent and making sure only one side gets to speak — or vote.
Step 3: Neutralize the Media
The Nazis already had Goebbels’ propaganda machine humming, but after consolidating power, they took over all radio, newspapers, and film production. Independent press? Gone. Only the Party line remained.
Trump’s Parallel: Media Takeover Strategy – Fox News, OAN, Newsmax, and right-wing podcasts already act like the Trump version of Der Stürmer, but the long game is bigger: choke off independent outlets by drowning them in lawsuits, restricting press access, and criminalizing leaks and whistleblowers. If you control the media, you control reality. Trump already has MAGA mesmerized and only listening to his echo chambers. MSNBC has begun “cleansing” their airwaves and punishing those who stand up to the management. Public broadcasting will have its federal funding removed. Papers, magazines, radio and TV, will soon be terrorized into falling in line or be bought by Trump-loyalist autocrats and turned into toxic-Right propaganda machines.
Step 4: Intimidate and Purge Opposition
With the legal system under their thumb and the media spreading the gospel, the Nazis arrested, threatened, or exiled every potential threat — from communists to union leaders to moderate conservatives who might have been willing to push back.
Trump’s Parallel:
- Project 2025 Purge:
- The DOJ is being weaponized to target political enemies (including whistleblowers inside government).
- State-level Republican officials are purging election officials who won’t play ball.
- And thanks to Trump’s call to arms, MAGA extremists (thugs-to-brown shirts-to SS) are threatening local officials, election workers, and journalists across the country.
Step 5: Create a One-Party State
By 1934, Hitler no longer had opposition parties — they were outlawed. Germany became a one-party dictatorship under the guise of “national unity.”
Trump’s Parallel:
Trump doesn’t need to outlaw the Democrats — he’s just working to rig the system so they can never win again. That’s why you see the attacks on mail-in voting, the constant drumbeat of election fraud lies, and the GOP transforming into a full-blown cult of personality. It’s all in Project 2025, which Trump swore he knew nothing about.
The goal is the same: Make it impossible for the opposition to compete.
Step 6: Co-opt the Military and Police
In Germany, Hitler brought the military to heel by making them swear an oath of loyalty directly to him — not the Constitution. The SS and Gestapo enforced loyalty through fear and violence. In Hitler’s Germany, the SS began as para-military thugs, organized, and given uniforms, which earned them the moniker “brown shirts,” loyal only to him. They became the SS, a secret police group answerable to no one but Der Fuhrer,
Trump’s Parallel:
Trump already has loyal sheriffs and police unions publicly pledging loyalty to him, not the law. The Jan.6ers were pardoned because they’ve already proved their loyalty to him. Soon, he’ll declare them a modern-day equivalent to “brown shirts.” Project 2025 includes plans to reshape the DOJ, FBI, and military leadership with die-hard loyalists who will follow orders, no matter how unconstitutional. The firing of anyone who might hold the “Trumpers” accountable was the first step. Step two was firing everyone who won’t obey illegal orders or pledge fealty to Der Fuhrer. If he succeeds, the institutions meant to protect democracy will instead protect the autocrats.

The Nazis didn’t become a dictatorship all at once — it happened in steps, each one justified by a crisis or presented as “saving” Germany from its enemies. That’s exactly what Trump and his enablers are doing right now!
Every time you hear Trump talk about “election integrity,” “traitors inside the deep state,” or “fighting Antifa,” you’re hearing the echo of 1933.
The only question left is: Will anyone stop him?
