You’ve seen the meme: “F*** around and find out.” It’s a simple concept—actions have consequences. But here’s the catch: MAGA will never “find out.”
Why? Because admitting they were wrong would mean admitting they got played. And no one likes realizing they were the gullible mark at the table. It’s the same reason people stay in cults long after the leader has been exposed as a fraud: it’s easier to lie to yourself than admit you were fooled.
Reality? Doesn’t Matter to MAGA.
The rent goes up. Groceries cost more. Their 401(k) shrinks. Wages stagnate. The billionaires who were supposed to be the “job creators” are busy buying yachts instead of raising salaries. And yet, MAGA diehards will still tune into Tucker’s latest conspiracy theory and nod along.
Because if they really accepted reality? If they really looked at their own wallets instead of Fox News?
They’d have to admit the truth: they were conned.
They’d have to accept that:
- Tax cuts for billionaires didn’t “trickle down.”
- Outsourcing wasn’t solved with a red hat.
- That “America First” actually meant America last—unless you were already rich.
- And that their “strong leader” was just another grifter looking for a cash grab.
And that’s unbearable. So instead, they double down.
The Cult Psychology at Play
Jim Jones convinced his followers to drink cyanide-laced Kool-Aid even as they watched others drop dead around them. Why? Because admitting they had followed a fraud was more terrifying than the poison itself.
MAGA is no different. When reality contradicts the narrative, reality gets rejected.
- Gas prices are high? Biden’s fault.
- Gas prices go down? No thanks to Biden.
- Unemployment drops? Doesn’t count.
- Trump says he wants to gut Social Security? Fake news.
- Trump literally admits he tried to overthrow democracy? “He was just joking.”
See the pattern?
Deprogramming a Cult is Hard
The truth is, MAGA won’t change until they want to. And that won’t happen until something snaps them out of the trance—whether it’s personal loss, financial ruin, or just sheer exhaustion from constantly moving the goalposts.
Until then, they’ll keep drinking the Kool-Aid.
And Fox, Trump, and the billionaire class will keep filling the cup.
