America’s democracy did not fail because democracy is a bad idea. It failed because every complex system eventually decays when nobody maintains it. The Constitution was a brilliant starting point, but it was designed for another age. If democracy is going to survive billionaire money, propaganda, corruption, authoritarian politics, and 21st-century chaos, it needs serious upgrades.
